Seeking God’s Kingdom

I believe there are many people who desire certain things which if they do not obtain, they feel unsatisfied or unfulfilled. Like Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, we all have a need to meet. Did you know that you’re not the only one with a need that hasn’t been met? To tell you the truth, there are some who have obtained what they thought would satisfy them and it didn’t. Matthew 6:33 reads

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

How do we seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness? In Luke 10:40-42, Mary did something that shows us how. Instead of busying herself with finding food for Jesus, she chose to rather sit at his feet and hear him. She chose to hear the word of God from Jesus Christ, and which was something that even the Devil could not steal from her.

Seeking God’s kingdom is seeking the Gospel and its contained truths, revealing and unveiling them. It is digging into the word of God, finding the riches and wisdom of it, and applying it/them to your life. Seeking the righteousness of God’s kingdom is following Christ since he was and is the perfect example of the righteousness of God (cp. Matthew 17:5).

Seeking God’s kingdom is attending to Him and it, the church which is the kingdom of heaven on earth. It is staying in His presence and drawing from Him, or at least worshipping Him. There are many needs we have or need in this world but when you make God and Christ your need, all these other needs seem to subside/fade away. When you are content with what God’s given you, you don’t go ahead and want more.

I hope I have been able to enlighten you a bit about how to seek God’s kingdom. The kingdom of God is not far away, it is closer to you than you think. Actually, the kingdom of God is not at any place but in you. You have to live it out and let people feel you. God bless you.
