The Beloved Son

We all long for that child who looks just like us and has our character. If you have one child and it happens to be male, you are most blessed especially if you’re the father. There is no greater joy than that for a father.

In Matthew 17:5, God the Father reveals His Son to the world whom He was proud of. This was not just any son, as, the angels of God are also called sons (Hebrews 1:5). This was the Son of God, begotten from the Father and the only son that is begotten. Though we Christians are children of God, we are adopted children technically.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and the most beloved. He is the most beloved because He does the will of the Father. Though he himself is God, he doesn’t equal himself to God but humbles himself before the Father. This is why Jesus is the most beloved amongst all the children of God.

If you recall Isaiah 14, Lucifer and some other angels tried to usurp God’s authority in heaven but was defeated and thrown down. In the same vein, man also tried to be like God to know good and evil but fell short of God’s glory.

This is what makes Jesus Christ an exceptional Son. He could rule in the Father’s place but has never attempted that. He could with his own authority and angels do many things but he doesn’t misappropriate them. This is the glory that God saw in him from the beginning and shared with him, the glory as the only begotten of the Father. As John 1:14 puts it, Jesus was full of grace and truth.

I just thought of sharing with you who the most beloved son is. If you are wondering, you are also a wonderful child of God; you are God’s beloved and Christ’s beloved too. God bless you.
