The High Calling

Imagine that big/great promotion you’ve been waiting for. Well, there is a bigger or greater than that promotion awaiting you, if you press on. There is no higher calling than the calling of Jesus Christ, than the call to salvation and eternal life, than the call to God.

We all have a call or calling, and that call may be to do something temporary, to fix a situation for the mean time. There are different types of calls- the call to election, the call to stand down, the call to stand up for what you believe, the call to serve.

The call of God is a call to eternity. That is, we are not just looking at the present situation and trying to save it, we are looking at the eternal glory that is to be enjoyed. The calling of God is for a kingdom, and people, and nations even. That is, to rule over them as our own people. This is the high calling every Christian has been called to, to receive a prize at the end. Philippians 3:13-14 reads

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

This is what we strive for, and the reason why we run as Christians. The prize of the race is not only to the person who finishes first or third but to all, so that there is no competitiveness. The prize of the race isn’t only for the swift but for all, even those that are slow as tortoise to run.

There is always a promotion at the end of every work and if you work well, your prize will pay you well. There are many blessings to be enjoyed when we respond to the high calling of Jesus Christ. They are not things physical, but things spiritual. They are gifts, graces, and ministry. These come as package when we respond to the high calling of God.

Why am I writing this? It’s because there is a greater purpose to which you are born in this earth than to just fulfill a dream. The greater purpose is to be conformed in the image of the Son of God, Jesus Christ. We are not just here to apply a temporary fix; things of eternity has more weight and glory than things in this world. So if I may ask, “are you ready to respond to this call?” God bless you.
