Bound And Free

Today, I want to consider a special kind of bondage we all are in. There are two kinds of people in this world, the bound and the free. There are two kinds of bound people in this world, those who are bound to the Lord and those bound to their spouses. There are two kinds of free people, those who have been set free in the Lord and those who have freedom from their oppressors.

When you are not bound to someone in particular, you are bound to the Lord by default. All your energies and devotions should be directed to God in person. When you are bound to someone, you are not bound to the Lord. All your work should be directed towards pleasing your spouse because you are not bound to God.

It is surprising to know/note that we are both bound and free, irrespective of which category we find ourselves in. Though we are bound to the Lord as singles, we are free in Him to do everything. When we are bound to our spouses, we are free to do whatever pleases us because we are not bound to the Lord, though we are under Him.

It’s like the love triangle, the couples are at the bottom of the triangle whilst God is at the top. From Him proceeds all the love that flows in our relationships. See the diagram below to make meaning of what I am saying.

Love Triangle

We are not bound to marry; else, everyone would be married. We are not bound to serve the Lord but if we must, we must do it willingly. We are not bound to be joined to the Lord, but if we must, we must do it out of faith. We are neither bound to anything nor free of anything. Every choice we make or option we choose has a profound effect on our well-being, whether it is a spouse or God.

These are some of my twists and turns on this topics; I hope I haven’t confused you. God bless you.
